FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Juston Burris first pro pick cost his quarterback his hair.Ryan Fitzpatrick revealed in a radio interview Thursday morning that he needed to cut his stupid hair -- a puffy pompadour -- and made a bet with teammates that the next player to intercept him in practice would get to give him a fresh summer `do.That player, Fitzpatrick told the Boomer & Carton Show on 101.9 WFAN, was Burris. The fourth-round draft pick out of North Carolina State grabbed a floating pass intended for Brandon Marshall on Tuesday and got his first interception of camp -- and sealed the fate of Fitzpatricks `fro.It was right before practice started, Burris said after practice Thursday. We were in stretch line and a couple of the vets made a bet with him, and I just so happened to get it. I was the one to do it.After the interception, Burris went right to safety Rontez Miles, who had set up the bet with Fitzpatrick. We talked about it and we laughed about it, Burris said. I honestly didnt think it really was going to happen, but they called me up in the team meeting (that night) and said I could do it.So, Burris was given some clippers and started shaving through Fitzpatricks fluffy locks. It was terrible, terrible. Bad, a smiling Burris said of his barber skills. He had to go back over it. He had to do his own thing. Im not good with clippers.Burris said a few teammates were ticked off that he was the one to win the haircutting honors.Yeah, they were pretty mad, especially the guys on offense, he said, smiling. They didnt want a rookie to cut their quarterbacks hair. But, a bet is a bet.So, within a few minutes, all that hair that had Jets camp buzzing was in clumps on the floor. It is gone, but I love his beard, Burris said. Hes got a nice beard. Yeah, I like the beard. He has a cool beard.Burris has seen a lot of action on the field in camp and made a mostly solid impression -- his haircutting skills aside, of course. The 6-foot, 212-pound cornerback was a three-year starter at N.C. State who impressed Jets coach Todd Bowles with his press coverage, making things tough for wide receivers at the line of scrimmage and beyond. His athleticism could help him add depth at both cornerback and safety. The more reps I can get, the better Ill be, he said. With this system and the way we practice, Im getting a lot of reps. So, with every rep, you get better, so Im trying to come out here every practice and get better and never take a step back. The fact the interception came against the starting offense gave Burris a boost. It feels like you can make plays at this level, he said. Thats all I want to do. Ive got that confidence that I can play at this level and that was just reassurance. It was just great to be able to make that play on the 1s.And, Burris wont be switching from defensive back to barber any time soon. No, he said, smiling and shaking his head, definitely not.---AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and AP NFL Twitter feed: http://twitter.com/AP-NFLRoquan Smith Jersey For Sale . - Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco is not a fan of his teams use of the wildcat formation, saying "it makes you look like a high school offence. NEW ORLEANS -- The history of the New Orleans Saints now includes another memorable Atlanta Falcons punt in a Monday night game. This one wont be recalled as fondly as Steve Gleasons memorable block nearly 10 years to the day earlier. The venue, the week, the opponent and the prime-time kickoff were all the same. The timing was similar, too. This time, Falcons linebacker LaRoy Reynolds was racing downfield to cover a punt early in the first quarter when he saw something hed never seen before. The Saints DeVante Harris collided with returner Tommylee Lewis before the ball arrived, and they both fell down. Harris tried to grab the ball as he stood up, lost it when he got hit and Reynolds pounced on it at the Saints 11-yard line. No, that was a new one, Reynolds said. The ball kind of just rolled to me. I turned around on it, and there it was, so I just fell on it. We talked all week about getting the ball back. Turnovers mean a lot, especially against these guys.In 2006, the Saints beat the Falcons 23-3 in their first game at the Superdome since Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans 13 months earlier. New Orleans scored its first touchdown on an emotional Monday night when Gleasons blocked punt after the Falcons first possession was returned for a touchdown by Curtis Deloatch. This time, the Falcons trailed 7-0 and had gone three-and-out on their opening series.Atlanta (2-1) tied the score three plays after the Saints special teams gaffee and never trailed again in a 45-32 victory over the winless Saints on Monday night at the Superdome.ddddddddddddIts a terrible play, Saints coach Sean Payton said. (Harris) has got to avoid the contact. Theres two mistakes -- runs into the returner and then tries to pick the ball up. Its bad.Harris said he had no one to blame but himself. The gunner just gave me an outside release but took a beeline toward the returner, he said. I was just trying to do my job. I turned around and the returner is right there and I ran into him.Atlanta defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux, the only Falcons player still left from the 2006 team, pointed out the eerie similarity. The only thing I can remember is that punt that was blocked pretty much electrified the whole dome, he said. They had the momentum the rest of the game, and it was all for them. This time, we got it, and we kept it.Atlanta did not punt again until midway through the fourth quarter. Quarterback Matt Ryan threw for 240 yards and two touchdowns while the Falcons added 217 rushing yards.Turnovers are huge for us, Ryan said. But that play in particular to get the ball that close to the end zone and be able to punch it in to go back 7-7, that was a big momentum shift for us.---AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and AP NFL Twitter feed: https://twitter.com/AP-NFL ' ' '
