Bolton Wanderers have been sold for £7.5m to the Sport Shield Group Consortium. The group, headed by former Bolton striker Dean Holdsworth, will take over ownership, pending ratification from the Football League. A Winding Up order, due to be heard on Monday morning at the High Court in London, has been adjourned for 14 days. Bolton owe an outstanding debt of around £3m to the HMRC, which is currently gaining interest of £175,000 a week. The club still face the prospect of entering administration should this debt be unpaid at the end of the two-week deadline. Bolton, who are currently second bottom in the Championship, would then be issued an automatic 12 point penalty - effectively sealing relegation to League One. Dean Holdsworth heads the consortium which has taken over Bolton However, the advisor to the Bolton board, Trevor Birch, confirmed during the hearing on Monday that a Sales and Purchase agreement was now in place and the club was ready to move forward.Whilst this continues to be a challenging time for everyone at the club, we are confident that the adjournment will give us the necessary time to conclude a transfer of ownership of the club, subject to approval from the Football League, Birch said, in a statement released on Boltons website. Holdsworth, who made 158 appearances for the Trotters, is expected to become the clubs new chairman.Theres been a hell of a lot of work gone in behind the scenes, he told Sky Sports News HQ. Championship club Bolton has been sold for £7.5m to the Sport Shield Group Consortium, led by former Trotters striker Dean Holdsworth Were still subject to Football League ratification. Thats the key point to this - today was a poignant moment for the club because no one wants to see a club like Bolton go into administration. Its a great day in terms of saving that identity and its an exciting day.Holdsworth is hoping that news of the adjournment will help Bolton in the fight against relegation. Its definitely do-able, its not mathematically impossible, he added. The teams results have picked up of late, they were very unlucky at the weekend. Where theres a will theres a way and youve got to believe you can do it as players. As a former player you always believe youre going into every game to win it. They were very unlucky on Saturday not to get the three points. That one point lifted the club of the bottom of the table which was good news, weve got another game tomorrow evening. Im sure the players will want to be part of something that will be very special this year. Australian Matt Wilkinson will need to overcome an horrific record at the Tahiti Pro to maintain his control of the World Surf League.Wilkinson has reached the quarter-finals just once in six visits to the island and will be aiming to reach at least the final eight for the first time since 2011 when the pro tour reaches Teahupoo on Friday (Saturday AEST).He currently holds a steady 3,350-point lead over his nearest rival, however that could quickly come undone if he falls early at the tournament. The 27-year-old has failed to make it past the third round in the past four years, including a disappointing 2012 visit where he lost both first and second-round heats to bow out in straight sets. However Wilkinson is a different customer so far this season after six of the 11 rounds. He won the opening two events in Australia and reached the final of the Fiji Pro in June to claim more than $280,000 in prize money. That should eensure him an easier passage through the opening rounds, where he will meet fellow Australian Stuart Kennedy and a qualifier in his first heat.ddddddddddddennedy and Wilkinson are two of 12 Australians competing at the event, which is notably without 2014 winner Mick Fanning after his success at Jeffreys Bay in South Africa last month.Fanning jumped to fifth in the rankings after that win but will likely tumble down the list as he once again begins to skip events through his personal year. The only other Australian to taste success in recent years in Tahiti, Adrian Buchan, will line up alongside countryman Joel Parkinson in their first-round heat.Australias only other title contender, Julian Wilson, will face Frances Jeremy Flores and Nat Young of the United States in his first-round heat.
